Upcoming events: CyberPsych Series: A community forum.

October 17, 2025

Come join a public seminar hosted by the Foundation's cyberpsychology support centre lead Associate Professor, Brad Ridout.

The content covered will be ideal for members of the community who have concerns about family members involved in scams (or are recovering from these experiences) as well as professionals whose work intersects with victims.

Signs of scam compliance and support strategies that maximise disengagement - focused at both community members and members of professional bodies, this training module examines strategies used to support the disengagement of victims of crimes of deception that persist in their beliefs. The process of supporting disengagement can have considerable impacts on the family and social networks of individuals and the mental health and wellbeing of not just the victim, but their loved ones, dependents and social networks. The learning outcome from this training module is to provide attendees with an appreciation of the psychological factors that impact compliance-based cognitive decisions in favour of criminals, the signs of compliance, and the practical strategies that can maximise disengagement by victims with the scammer.

The seminar will be conducted online on the 17th of October from 11AM AEST to 12PM AEST. To register your interest, click here.
