The IDCARE Foundation aims to provide cyberpsychological and technical support services to victims of scams, cybercrimes and identity theft that risk destitution and psychiatric injuries. Our primary purpose is to provide specialist care that relieves individuals from serious harm experienced from crimes of deception. We achieve this through research-led interventions and treatments drawn from the fields of cyberpsychology and cyber security.
Our work has been informed by over a decade of scholarly research that has identified the serious harms and acuate needs confronting a subset of these victims that risk destitution and psychiatric injuries. The Foundation’s work continues to benefit from leading academic and clinical research on the serious harms and treatments in response to these growing threats to our community. Our Cyberpsychology and Cyber Security Clinics operating from our Foundation benefit directly from the leading research of our College of Experts and the support we extend to academic researchers and students in advancing novel and innovative treatments.
Our specialist support services are available to any member of the community irrespective of where they reside. The engagements include one-on-one and group therapies that are provided during extended business hours. In addition, the Foundation supports and undertakes various community and professional-body engagements that advance education in support of our primary aim.
The Foundation was formed to address a critical support gap for individuals confronting the most serious harms and impacts from online deceptions, such as cybercrimes and data breach events. Engagements with our specialist staff are arranged via an online booking system.
Our Cyberpsychologists work with clients to identify the behavioural effects of the crimes experienced. Clients benefit from practical advice and treatment considerations extended by Centre staff to relieve impacts from serious harm. These sessions, with the client's permission, can lead to an assessment that can be used to engage longer term, localised support.
The Foundation's cybersecurity clinic offers leading technical research, development and support to address and remediate the cyber-vulnerabilities that contribute to the serious harm experienced by victims. The connection between devices and human behaviour is a key focus of the treatments extended and the research undertaken.
